I have 996 Targa - have done 16 track days - (I guess that means I am "intermediate") I have been running Michelin PS 2s.
The tyres last around 5 or 6 track days which isnt too bad, but after a couple of track days the outside edge/rims get worn really badly, and the rest of the tyre is perfect. I swap the tyres over as they arent directional, but I am wondering if I change to a different tyre (Pirelli P zero maybe?) would I get better wear in this area?

I maintain the following pressures (hot) 36F 40R. I have run them at lower temps and it seems to make no difference.

thanks

Sounds to me like you need more negative camber in the geo. You need a tyre temp gauge, then tweak the camber until the temp is even across the tread.

You coulod do with a trip to http://www.centregravity.co.uk they will set your car up properly and save you money on tyres.

FMIIATGTSE, are you adjusting your tyre pressures during the track day?

Sean - thanks for that - I have in fact already had the Geo changed a bit but only by half a degree - apparently i need some adjustment to the front suspension to get another half degree (front & back)- so i think i will have to do that.

Yes i do adjust the tyre pressures - i keep reducing the pressures so that they run 36 F & 40 R when hot.
I notice there are lots of different opinions on TP - what is your view?
