Hi,

As some of you readers may know, I'm on the look out for a 996 (3.4L) and came across one with 116,000 Km on the clock from 2000. It is noted that the engine was changed by Porsche 48,000 km ago and was wondering if this then basically means that there is a lesser chance of an engine failure (I know only 5-10% do suffer from actual engine failures)? As everyone else I don't want to pay twice for a car should the engine "blow"...

Thanks for any input and/or views.

Frank

The answer should be yes. I suspect a fair few will have had engine changes by now & assuming the engine insatalled had the later IMS/RMS build then that is two issues removed from the list. SO yes I suspect it will be a better engine.
