A friend of mine is interested in the 996/911 Tip S on Ebay....
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORSCHE-911-TIP-S ... 403wt_1139

Photo's look great but wonder if its too good to be true? Wonder if there is any advice for him as he is asking me what I would recommend him to do?

Can anyone on here give me some help or pointers in the right direction with this car and what to watch out for?

Any comments or help very welcome.

Many Thanks

Steve

looks to be in very good condition, I would get a professional inspection from one of the several well known experts, had lots of owners, less than K10 miles each?

Hi Steve

Like Sam says get it inspected.

The money seems about correct for the mileage and age

However, would you spend a fat wadge on new wheels which probably means new tyres. Then to add to that, have new brakes and discs which is another fat wadge not to mention sensors and shims if the job has been done properly.

Having now spent all that money very recently would you then put it up for sale, I wouldn't unless there was a problem or a distress sale, not to mention all yhe other goodies one of which at least will noticeably affect insurance.

It might be genuine as all the expensive things you expect to go at that mileage have been done except for RMS (if needed) and possibly suspension so coil overs and bump stops need checking

So like Sam says best have it checked by someone who knows what is going on or has gone on.

HPI's are not fool proof so also have longitudinal beams checked for impact damage in front boot area, (I think they have them just like in 993 but not sure).

A check is about £300 and a good bargaining chip if anything substantial (expensive) but not structurally damaging is found

See you on club night soon.
