Carrera 4 oil leak

Post by Redbaron63 »

Just joined the group and was interested in your thoughts.
I have a 2010 my C4 just bought from local Porsche centre, so comes with 2 yr Porsche Warranty.
Not done many miles since bought late last year, but after trip to Bristol, noticed few oil drips on floor from OS of engine when engine running.
Taken into dealer and they confirm that the leak is from the OS cam cover and due to space, the engine might need to come out
to sort problem.
Question is, if they do take engine out, are there any other jobs I should look at having done
E.g water pump, valve clearances etc..
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Drive safe

Valves are hydraulic, so no adjustment. Is it manual or PDK? If manual then clutch is the norm. I thonk OPCs drop engine with box, if they do there is a brake line across the gearbox which is worth replacing whilct there. Engine mounts need a look at as well. Get them to check the other cam cover as well. Its a 12 year old car so there could be quite a few "while your in there" jobs.

Hi Jim,
Many thanks for your reply.
It is a PDK car. Will have a chat with dealer this morning.
Car only done 55k miles, but guess time is the issue.
Kind regards
Mike
