Just bought a stunning 1985 turbo bodied 3.2 Carrera. I set out to buy with 3 rules. No Red, no Targa, G50 box.
I broke all three when I saw and drove this thing and i am still smiling every time i drive it.
I asked the previous owner if the roof leaked but he advised with all honesty that he had not taken it out in the rain for the last 8 years so could not tell me. The interior was bone dry so I did not argue.
Inspected the roof (new cover) and the roof seals (perfect) so was confident of a dry interior when i did use it in the rain because it is going to be used every day. To be extra sure I plastered the sealing area with vasaline to keep out the smallest of drips.
Result, one hell of a down pour and the car is swimming. Its just one part behind the drivers head that is leaking. I have checked the whole area as best i can but cannot find any obvious cause.
Is there a maesto out there who knows how to set the roof correctly so that it does not leak. Whats the secret???

TADT

Porsche said "Targas are not 100% waterproof"

You need to sit in the car, get someone to spray it with a hose and see where it is coming in, windows can be adjusted to seal better, not perfect, but better

Some older targas have "broken their back" by being jacked up badly and are bent like a banana and the roof panel is now too small for the gap
