Need recommendations for someone to carry out diagnosis and engine rebuild for 1968 911L Sporto preferably in South East UK. 118K miles but top end was rebuilt in 2012 at 106K. Now deep knocking on idle :( :( . Not alternator bearings. DSD Motorworks did top end. How do people rate them? PM me if you like. Graham

Graham, so sorry to read that you have an issue. The car looked great on our display at Bromley Pageant.

I would give Eddie at Silvertune a call he is based in Whitchurch, a bit of trek but worth it IMHO.

Thanks for replies everyone.
Car went to DSD Motorwerks, found failed chain tensioner on 1-3 bank. Tensioners replaced both sides plus engine mounts (no need for engine out just dropped at back). Luckily Chain Locks were fitted at last engine works so no danger of chain coming off and destroying valves/pistons.
Picking car up tomorrow.
Shame car missed Silverstone Classic, was booked infield. Still took trusty old Austin Cambridge. 500 mile round trip including visit to Avon Valley Railway on Sunday for annual rally, no problems. Only Farina Austin at Silverstone.
