I've just twigged on that the alarm system on my 96 Targa is apparently a PA100 as opposed to a PA1000 or PA2000. Does anyone know what the spec differences are between these different models i.e. do they do different things? I think I told my insurance company that it's a PA1000 aswell. Do you reckon I should confess my mistake in case they see this as a reason to repudiate any future claim (God forbid!)? Thanks |

I can't find any answers, has the PA100 replaced the PA1000? My PA1000 has a Thatcham Cat 1 certificate. I'd give the Issurance company a call just in case, you know what they are like. |

Might be worth having a word with Hamilton and Palmer. They can be contacted at sales@hamilton-palmer.co.uk I think they made the PA1000 and P2000 alarms for Porsche Have not heard of a PA100 Silly question, are you sure the last zero has not rubbed off the key fob, I have a 993 Targa and the fob shows the alarm to be PA1000 Also as others say, be very clear with declarations to insurance companies Had a refusal to insure my car because the lights had been upgraded; me thinks it is now safer, at least I can now see the road in the dark! Stange world we live in when you cannot gat insurance just for making the car safer. Everytime I find something different about my car I let the insutrance company know and make sure my broker has the notification logged, that way no argument. |

[quote="Sean Smallman"]I can't find any answers, has the PA100 replaced the PA1000? As far as I know they seem to do the same things but just have different buttons on the fob - mine has one button to do everything. However the car is equipped with a second immobiliser and both the original and second one do work. I like the second one as it's very discrete and even if you you have the keys you won't be able to start the car unless you know what to do to turn off the immobiliser... Has foxed many a mechanic ![]() |
