Hi guys, I haven't been as active as I'd liked since getting my 78 911 because sadly some little muppet smashed into the back of me just a week after getting it.
Anyway after 8 weeks in the body shop I finally have it back but it's now developed a starting problem. It started first time and every time for the first few days then after a 10 min journey I left the car for 5 min but on my return I couldn't get it started.
It turned over but just wouldn't fire. I checked for spark and it was fine then I realized I couldn't hear the pump priming. After a few more attempts it eventually started fine.
Next day it started fine but stopped off for fuel and again when I wanted to start it would turn over but no pump running. This time I sat it out for 10 mins and sure enough it fired up fine.
It's done the same thing 2 or 3 times now and always started after 10-15mins but today it done it again and no matter what I do it won't fire up the pump.
I've wiggled just about every connection and sensor on the car so now just need some advice what bits to try replacing first.
Thanks in advance
Hi, had a very similar problem with my '79 911, was found to be the fuel pump relay in the boot was faulty. I replaced this and all was fine after then. A cheap solution to a frustrating problem!
Cheers, Rich.
