Post subject: | Tracing Previous Owners |
I have been contacted by the owner of a 1967 911S from Melbourne in Australia who is trying to get in touch with the cars first owner. The only information that he has is that the original owner lived in Yarm (not far from me) and the car was a special order. Any ideas or suggestions how he should go about doing this? The car has been in Australia since around 1975. I appreciate that without either the owners name or the cars original registration number it is not going to be easy. Will Porsche be able to help using the chassis number? I suppose that the chances of the owner still being in the same place 41 years on are pretty slim too. |

has I got a list of previous owners for my car by writing to the DVLA. The form is a V888 and is available from their website. I have it stored on my computer but can't upload a PDF to the forum. There is a £5.00 charge but they supplied all the details of previous owners and the registrations numbers. That went back to 1982 so if he has any registration details or the chassis number they may be able to trace further istory. I think Porsche can only issue a certificate of construction or delivery for cars going back that far. They didn't have further details on mine Don't know if that helps |

The information that the owner has had from Porsche was that the first owner was from Yarm and that the car was a special order. They say thay are unable to provide anything further due to privacy laws. I think that he has considered the DVLA, but the website only gives payment by cheque as an option, not credit card. This creates a problem as they won't accept cheques in Australian Dollars. There is a premium rate phone line, but he says this doesn't work from overseas. |
