I have finally decided to embrace my OCD and buy a 993 C2! Can anyone recommend insurance for the car to use it as a classic with limited mileage (3K or 5K a year)? Have initially been quoted £750 which seems high.

Will put some pictures on when I get it next week.

Have a look on the insurance forum, lots of companies to chose from. Club membership helps and a garage.

Depending on your accident history and convictions £300 - £400, should be your annual premium on a Classic Policy.

I was recently amazed by moneysupermarket.com

I put in a search to Google for "classic car insurance" and money supermarket came up with a classic car section or page, I typed in the details to several cars and was amazed with the prices being half of that I had been quoted off the usual insurance companies I call... and all the results were well known insurance companies.

Interestingly, even if you declared modifications, it made very little difference to the prices I got back.

I've just used Classic Line Insurance and also got an agreed value.

RH Classic Insurance have been good.
I know it's a different beast but my Cab 944 is agreed value, limited mileage with windscreen and European breakdown cover for £118.
Insures me to drive any other car as well.

Am with Lancaster, I dont think there is much point in discussing our individual deals because they will have no relevance to the next person, age , post code , convictions, parking, duty, etc etc. I am 63, have a garaged car , decent postcode no convictions, a 993, 3 Kmiles, 27k agreed value and £212ish premium, quite happy :)

I have used Lancaster for my last two cars but wont renew with them, such a hassle when I sold the 944, they continued to charge me monthly premiums despite me writing to them and the new owner using them for insurance. Eventually they cancelled the policy after I stopped paying, now they want £150 from me. Needless to say I will be switching the 968 to a new provider.
