a moment of nervous tension before the 993 sailed through its MOT yet again.

I thought the cautionary note of some dust inside the rear wheel arch was a bit harsh....

Good news Clive, do you ever have any problems with the emissions test ? I seem to every year although my car always gets there in the end. I have changed plugs , leads, caps and rotors since my last MOT, so I am hoping for an easier test next year. When these items were changed it would appear that the items changed were the original units judging from the codes on the components, (except plugs)this was probably due to the high costs of parts and labour to change them more often, my car has only covered 74K killometers . The car is running much better since the change.

Sam

these were the results at fast idle

CO..... actual val = .042 Max allowed 0.2

HC.... act = 63 Max allowed 200

Lambda actual val = .998 Min limit is .970 and max 1.030

THe readings are slightly worse than last year. I have had new louder boxes put on and of course it has not had a major service for 3 years now...so its to be expected.

:D Flew threw, thats a big happy PASS.
Emissions are bob on as well
Co 0.499
Hc 265
Dont know wot Hc is?
Noticed there not the same as the the above figures on the 993.
Do they test newer cars differently?
My car didnt have a lamba test, and the figures for the Hc are very different?

HC is Hydrocarbons, as CO drops HC rises & vice versa. It is the unburnt bit of the fuel in the exhuast whereas CO is the burnt emissions.
Different ages of car have different MOT standards to meet. Pre 1993 it won't have a CAT & the limits will be higher.
