We jumped in the 4S on Sunday afternoon after having a Thai meal by the canal at Watford Gap and when the engine fired a warning light came on. The instrument panel said drive to main dealer, needless to say I nearly s*** myself. You fear the worst and wait for the clatter of metal and the inevitable pool of fluid telling you it's the end for your 6 pot. Thankfully no nasty noises engine running ok, not too bad I thought. Then I remembered the R32 which started with an engine check light and the 4 weeks of engine work it needed fortnuately under warranty. Another squeeze of my butt cheeks as I don't have a warranty. Booked the car in today, sat in the seating area watching Dickinsons Real Deal waiting for Steven to come over and say "it's worse than that it's dead Jim". On this occasion good news a pin had broken from it's wire inside a sensor plug and was an easy fix. Rather than explain, the mechanic showed me what he had done and had topped all my lubes up whilst he was testing his repair. Great service, nice coffee, day time telly and a mightily relieved customer. ![]() |

Good result. Those are a fairly regular occurence on the 996 I'm afraid. Normally sorted by disconnecting battery for 10 mins or so to reset it. |
