Hi all,

I'm a newbie around here, and have posted in the introductions forum....

I went to PCB on Saturday to look at a new Boxster, and lo and behold, I walked in, looked around, sat in a couple of cars, drooled over the white 'S' in the front of the showroom and was left completely alone!! No hassling salesmen, no one trying to be my "best mate" even though they'd never seen me before and no-one stating they'll get a salesman over to me asap. I was VERY impressed.

There were a couple of people meandering around who were obviously "enthusiasts", rather than customers, taking pictures and trying all cars for size...

To my surprise a young lad appeared, Sam, who showed me around two of the Boxsters there and explained the options available, and which, in his opinion were a must have.

He offered me a test drive, and demonstrated the cars amazing handling characteristics and general performance, all at below 70mph of course  He did all of this without being pushy or overpowering in the slightest. The whole experience was pleasurable and enjoyable. From initial impressions, I would buy from there again, and would recommend them to anyone.

Oh yeah.. I bought the white one...

I've always been impressed with my 2 local OPC's. I just can't afford any of their cars.

Same experience for me at Portsmouth, Reading and Silverstone when looking for the Panamera and my previous 997.

Nigel,

The local OPC knows TIPEC very well, we have always found them the same as you describe. Hopefully they gave you a TIPEC application form - if you are local to Bristol we meet first Tuesday of the month at The Fox in Easter Compton. Come down and show us the new toy.

Hi Mick,

They didn't offer me a form, but to be honest, the actual handover was a little chaotic because there was an error with the pricing. Only a slight error, but they had printed out all the paperwork in preparation for my handover, and it was all slightly wrong. Poor Sam was running around like a mad man!!

We got there in the end, and as a result I didn't get the normal detailed explanation of all the cars controls, but I have arranged an hour with Sam to cover it all. He's a great salesman, very thorough and polite.. I recommend him. On top of that, there's always the 30 minute video on the Porsche website describing all the controls and features...simply brilliant!!

Easter Compton is just off the A38 isn't it? I am in Gloucester and will come down if it's dry. What time do you all meet up?

Not been on here for a while.

Easter Compton is just off J17 of the M5 - turn away from the OPC direction and go under the motorway, the Fox is about 1 mile along the road. We meet at 7:45. The meeting was on Tuesday evening and about 20 Porsches were in the car park.

Sue and I will be away at the next meeting, I'm sure there will still be a crowd in attendance.

Mick
