Hi All,

Been meaning to post about this for a while but wanted to try it myself first as it seemed too good to be true!

I got an intriguing email from Sue (TIPEC Bristol) a couple of weeks back about coming down to the Porsche dealership to hear an announcement about saving TIPEC members some money. Sue and the team at the dealership have agreed a membership scheme for owners of older porsches. Basically, membership is free and we get half price labour rates (£60/hr), an annual complimentary service clinic, and its also possible for us shadow the mechanic.

This was good timing for me because I have been noticing some steering vagueness and tram-lining for a while but didn't know where to go to check the geometry. So after a free consultation last week, I booked the 944 in for a front bearing check and alignment today. I also took the afternoon of work so I could shadow the mechanic.

The mechanic Chris was very knowledgable and did a great job cleaning, re-greasing and adjusting my front wheel bearings which took all the play out of my wheels. The 944 then went onto the lasar alignment equipment, where Chris talked me through all the adjustment points. Turned out both fronts had too much toe out.

The steering feels so much tighter and the tram-lining has now gone. Chris also fixed my check strap on the front door.

The afternoon's work cost me £160, all in all a great experience. :D :D

Hi - this is Sue - it's a genuine deal for my TIPEC Bristol members and makes membership of TIPEC a no-brainer as far as I can see. It is helping to get real enthusiasts onboard and it really is a win-win rather than 'too good to be true!'
