Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of Porschemode, Bristol?

I need my 944S2 servicing and possibly a bit of work doing to it. Any good/bad feedback?

Thanks,

Barnaby

No experience of them, but if you're living in Cornwall there are independents nearer than Bristol that have good feedback, so why travel so far?

I thought my options were Braunton or JMG Christchurch?

Well Braunton seem to have a good reputation and Jon Mitchell too (although he's probably no nearer than Bristol).

Otherwise there's Crispin Manners at Oak Tree Garage, Newton Poppleford, just outside Sidmouth - I haven't heard much about him on the forums but I believe he is popular with the PCGB crowd, and Andy Moss, just outside Honiton, who I use as he's nearest for me and I am happy with his work (also old thread about him here).

There's also Oakdens Garage in Plymouth who you can read mixed reviews about on this forum, but you have to remember that every specialist probably has one or more unhappy customers and they tend to make more noise than the happy ones. Choosing a Porsche specialist can be a bit like choosing a GP; you can be happy with the same one for years and hear other people criticise them but take no notice as it doesn't tally with your experience, then you can change to one who comes highly recommended and wonder what all the fuss is about as you don't have the same rapport with them as you did with the old one!

Oakdens Garage are the ones who did the express engine transplant and prep work for the guy who drove a 944 from Plymouth to Cape Town!

Thanks for this. Pretty much what I thought - nothing in Cornwall. JM has the best rep though they are 4 hours from me as opposed to 3hrs to Bristol. I've heard good things about Ian Parsons' new venture, PorscheLogic, in Bristol.
