....lol....certainly wasn't a mid-life crisis for me as I have just turned 60......got my Freedom Pass and Porsche in the same week.....I enjoy both but in different ways and the 993 was a Birthday present to me.

I have been hankering after a 911 since the 70's and have watched with interest how it has developed over the years. I have always been a fan of the air-cooled engine as my first few cars were Volkswagens....several Beetles...a Karmann Ghia and a 1600 Variant coupe.

I thought my budget would only allow me to buy a 964 but I am happy to say I have been able to buy a 993 which since its inception is the 911 I have always wanted. It brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

Got quite a bit of stick from friends....penis extention type comments but when I explain to them about the 911 and in particular about the air-cooled engine they mostly appreciate my purchase....I daresay a couple are somewhat envious but you certainly don't have to be stonking rich to be able to afford a wonderful bit of automotive history and a fantastic car to boot.
