Hi Jim  For once I am going to disagree with you...sorry... £12.99 for a torque wrench with an extension and 3 sockets and a case.....its TOO cheap... I wouldn't let it anywhere near my Porsche engine.... Admittedly my Snap-On torque wrench was over £400 which is a little expensive, but I wouldn't use that one.... All the best Brett

All the best Brett Brett, Aldoi stuff is fantastic quality, they don't sell crap. That torque wrench looks very much like a britool or clarkes both of which got good marks in the various magazine tests. A lot of the well known names didn't do very well on accuracy. It has a 3 year warranty & knowing Aldi they will stand by it. Some one who changes the odd wheel & does the odd bit of car work cannot & will not spend 400quid on a tool like that. As an example I've just bought an Aldi router at 19.95. It apparently is a Ryobi in an Aldi box! Ryobi is 60 pound or so. Still with the 3 year warranty. |

Hi Jim As long as it IS a good make then ok, but imagine its just a Chinese copy and when you torque your headbolts down to 70 ft/lbs it actually does 100 ft/lbs or 20 ft/lbs  I am not sure I would advise anyone to buy it...as I assume it has no make on it.... Porsche engines are a little too expensive to risk it....and I would bet that Aldi`s wouldn't pay for a new engine.... lol All the best Brett

I have 'possibly' the same torque wrench , which I bought from Argos around 3 months ago for 19.99. At least it looks the same to me but that's all I can say. For a non mechanic like me who was proud to finally own a torque qrench  , I have to say it works well and though I only really bought it to take wheels off easily ( and avoid monkeys at tyre centres klling my wheel nuts) , it seems to be fine. If it is the same one as Jim suspects then 12.99 is even better. Did you see the arc welder the other week for 25 quid. I'm sure some of these items wont be 1st class but to buy and keep in case you ever need one as opposed to one you use daily I suspect they are adequate. I will be keeping my eye out for Lidl and Aldi special gadgets as I like a gadget  Mas |

All my air tools are identical to the Clarkes/Machine Mart stuff but 1/3 to 2/3 the price & with a no quibble 3 year warranty. For DIY use it is ideal. The thing is that with things like torque wrenches you can pay as much as you like but unless you get them checked/reset every 6-12 months or so or everytime you drop or knock it then you cannot guarantee the accuracy. |

Trust me Jim , I'm not new to buying the odd one. I bought a Lidl tree lopper last month for a tenner and it cuts braches up to about an inch and a half very well. Not the 2 inches as they claim though, I have to say  The thing is we dont really have Aldi's near me which is a shame but I can get to one at work which mean wandering the mean streets of the dodgiest parts of North London  The things we'll do for a bargain ehh Mas |

looks just like the wrench I've been using for over 5 years. and yes, I've had it checked against snapon / britool fairly regularly - and it's pretty much spot on ! I do look after it though, and never drop it or abuse it. but, it's only really used for torquing wheel lug nuts might get another to keep in the car for emergency use thanks for the tip ! |
