Off for around 11 days to the US tomorrow on business for training & meetings & have managed by virtue of some creative timing to get 24hours plus in Dallas Fort Worth. :?
So what I hear you say, well in Bedford which is just a few miles down the road there is a place called Zims Autotechnik which carry lots of Porsche bits both new & used & also do servicing. http://www.allzim.com/index.html :bounce:
No I'm not bringing a stack of bits home either for me or anyone else but I can get a look around find out what bits they carry & also plug Zims with TIPEC & vice versa. I've got a few copies of AT to show them what we do. I'll take camera & get some pics & write it up for the magazine. Their prices are pretty good already but I'm sure some TIPEC discount should be possible

So, some leather seats, set of alloys and a radiator in your hand luggage, will be out of the question then?

Have a good trip m8!

Are they going to supply your V8 powerplant?

Shame you could have brought me a Bursch full system & manifold. Go on. Sure it would go as hand luggage!

Nope unfortunately all the V8 guys in Texas don't open on Saturdays & I think my employer might like me to do the odd meeting & work while I'm here for them...

Just driven down, god there is some interesting yank stuff at the side of the road (I35 most of the way from Dallas Fort WOrth via Waco to Austin) most of it pretty rust free as they get very little real rain here & virtually no snow so salt free.

PS God is it hot 106 Deg F on the hire car external temp.

PPS Rolled up at Hertz desk & they did me a deal on a Mustang as they had too many! Pics in a few days if I can find someone with a card reader.

The new Mustang is a lovely looking machine and if I was ever in the market for a modern car, that would be high on my list. I also like the MGZT V8, which has rearwheel drive and the Mustang engine. Quite rare too.

ps. sorry for mentioning MG on a Porsche site, I'll now go and wash my mouth out with soap and water :drunken:

Have a look on the net for car meets around the area you are visiting. They have lots of those all over the states. You really do get to see some old cars in amazing condition. Usually held on weekends.

I always have to stop and take a look everytime I see one of those old American dreams...

Yup will do, there is quite a custom scene here in Texas with some interesting motors. I wish I hadn't been so knackered & short on time coming down there were old american tin needing some work parked in various lots some individually some as 20-30 cars. I followed a lovely 30-40's van inAustin yesterday, side exhausts sounding great. Also a white 968 Sport on the Mo Pac last night with two bikes on the roof.

I have all day next Sunday to myself in Raleigh NC so will see whatI can find.

You couldn't even bring me back a teeny tiny odometer gear? ;)
