Havinf had my Volvo S60 D5 auto die on me I was shocked how few cars fitted my requirements.

Turbo Diesel ( ecomony) , comfortable and a bit of luxury , Auto , cruise control .

BMW 320D fits but they aren't cheap and I dont like to spend too much on my 'non hobby' car. Nearly got a saab 9-3 but TBH heard some conflicting stores re problems.

For some reason I quite like the 75 Connoisseur as despite their limitations I do think they are a bit of a modern classic. Doubt if any will survive long enough to become vintage though as its only the engine thats BMW not the trim :bom:

For 1600 plus tax , I don't think its a bad car and it has a full and decent history.

Some amazing gadgets just as many as a Volvo D5SE and an electrically operated blind that comes up inside the back window , pimp wagon or what, I just told the missus and she slapped me !.

Regards Mas

Well it is either Judge Judy which the missus is glued to or wait for your pics to load

They are actually very good, my ARO Paul had a 190 MG ZT & it was pretty good & stayed rattle free. A couple of medway cabbies have deseasals 75 & reckon they are very reliable & they complain that good low mileage ones get snapped up by other cabbies!
Be wary of the cambelt jobbie at around 70K which makes a 944 look cheap, I think it is around 7-10 hours.

Yeah come on guys fight over my car !! ,

On a serious note I'm not expecting Volvo quality in fact I'm a bit worried re the quality aspect as it is British but come on cheap for a smart car or what. Being a sad forum head myself just like Mr Jim , guess what I just found online ------
a Rover 75 and ZT owners club you have to smile.

This won't be replacing my love of Porsche by the way this car is strictly econo / comfo commuto :drunken:

Oi watch it Mr! As a Jaguar driver I know you are wrong! As I say the R75 & MG equivalent scored very well when new for driver satisfaction & reliability.
I work in a team of around 20 senior IT techies so all car nuts, around half of us drive something from JLR & excluding my bosses LR Disco 3 which seems to need warranty work every couple of months or so they are much less grief than the other half of the team who drive BMW or VAG products. In fact one of the VW fan boys took unending grief on a team conference call cos he was late & it was because his Golf which he regards as better than sliced bread had broken down yet again. This is the 3rd or 4th time since he joined the team 3months ago.

You got a great car there. This is the one that BMW were so worried about that the trashed the company! Better than a 5 series they said even though they owned the company. I picked one up from Liverpool docks & delivered it to Halifax & loved every minute. Its a scandal we gave years of development to the Chinese for free. Just don't bump it as many body parts are unobtainable except from the breakers. :( Seriously an S type is a better bet but they cost more. Well they do when you fill them up! (Don't do oil burners.)

Great car. One of our directors bought one a few years ago, we said he was mad. It was green though :pukeleft: But what a drive.

One of my old neighbours works at Land Rover and used to come home in all sorts for evaluation, when Rover was still going I remember him bringing a pre-production fully loaded R75 home and as he knew I was pertolhead he let me have a spin, very nice altho' it could have done with a 6th gear as at (ahem) motorway speeds it seemed to be revving quite high, he later told methat car had been crushed as it had some never to go into production parts on it.

Blimey thats some intesting stuff. I only bought it as a cheap pile of junk ( but a smart comfy & luxurious not too guzly one ).

I've seen the bills this guy gave me including 789 foir a new ecu fitted, this is a common fault as the drain holes underneath the pollen filter block. Also 2,000 for a recon gearbox still under warranty ( another known fault around 100,000 ).

Maybe I'll get lucky and he's had all the disasters that what im preying

Regards
Mas

Lots of prototype stuff gets crushed as it cannot be released to market as they don't pay VAT on development cars. A development mule can cost over 1 million quid  Also mules are chopped around big time to fit bits & enable easy access to items.
Some of the stuff we saw at Gaydon test track last year & the year before was very interesting to say the least, hence why no cameras allowed
