I quite like this. Even if it is a mongrel. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1819710.htm

Pretty but a bit of a shame as the straight 6 lump in the 240/260Z is a good engine & very tunable. They sound fantastic with a good after market exhaust & tripe 45 DCOE carbs.
The Samurai ones were fantastic in period (showing my age here.

The 240Z is one of my all time favourite cars. But it's rare to see one for sale that isn't rusty This isn't such big money for a tidy Z car! I sort of feel the same about the 944. I like the sound of the engine even if it isn't that powerful by modern standards. It's a classic. :alien: Corvette in a 944 isn't a 944 to me.

I remember 240/260Z's back in the early/mid 70's and loved them, IIRC there was a Super Samuri (as pictured) and a Son of Samuri version. The later 280Z lost its way a bit.

had a few of these including 2x really early 240z's
Who was it that used to race them ? He used to own the mazda dealership at the bottom of the hill on the road in to Weymouth ?

This is the 1969 car which I cut the front end off and built a steel frame chassis for.

It was bought by a classic car racing team in 1996 when Dasun Z's were wiping the floor in all the races. I think it was the reason why they brought in the rule cars had to be built prior to 1970 but they hadn't realised there were a few cars made in 1969 around still so that rule didn't exclude the Z's

Couldn't resist showing the v12

Herman/Schuller won the East African Safari Rally in one in 1971.I think Tom Walkinshaw and Win Percy used to race them over here.A couple of mint ones turn up at some of our local shows.Great cars!! :)

A guy used to hillclimb one & comprehensively blew it up at one meet. He opened the bonnet to clouds of smoke & steam, pulled out the dipstick a huge chunk of block with it & said to the crowd "That's what wrong with it the dipstick is bu99ered"   Complete collapse of crowd & typical British humour whilst facing a four figure engine rebuild

It isn't a V12 that is a straight 6.

built a spare engine in the kitchen and couldn't find any way of getting it to the garage so I removed the pass seat and tipped it into the car, so it had 12 cylinders for a while.

Win Percy that was the fella. Very nice man and a very successful racer He showed me all his trophies and photos in his office once . I heard some years later that he had died ?

This V12 would fit in it.

I've never put a you tube link in before, so I might look like a tube if I done it wrong?

Well Ithought Win was still alive, but I saw him driving the Jags at Le Mans in the 80s,he was the one who turned one over on the Mulsanne straight at 230mph and skidded along on the roof for 1/2 a mile or so and lived to tell the tale.Brown trouser job no doubt!! Shekar Mehta drove the datsuns as well and won quite a few rallies I think. :)

oh  I should have checked my facts before posting . Looks like it was his accident and paralysis that I had a vague memory of.
