I have just bought a used Boxster S year 2000 fab fab engineered little car. :D But help...

Can anyone help me with a steering wheel noise - it's like a rubbing or 'clicking' sound from the steering column, every corner and even if turning the wheel slightly on the drive. Oddly a "twanging" sound accompanies it too, resonating across the dashboard. It sounds as though something is catching, clicking, and then a metal profile or spring is resounding with each click.

Any heard of this? I'm worried having only bought the car two days ago privately.
:?

Welcome :)

I have previously had a Boxster S (a 2000/X model). They are great fun, aren't they? :)

Not sure on your steering issue, hopefully someone else will be able to help you.

Hi and welcome.

I have a Boxster, and you will really enjoy it - a fantastic drive that holds the road perfectly.

As for the noise, I'm sorry too. I've never come across that before.
Where abouts in the country are you? Would it be worth taking it to an independant Porsche specialist? They're dotted arounf the country, and I'm sure wherever you live there'll be one there somewhere.

In any case, enjoy the ride.

Thanks for your welcomes all, and nice to see friendly people here willing to help. I'm hoping this problem is a simple CV joint. The clicking is quiet, evident mainly when turning the wheel driving slow (or on driveway) so maybe just a split rubber boot-cover letting the salt water in last winter.

If it helps others for future I'll post back here when resolved.
