Post subject:  SELLING/TRANSFERING NUMBER PLATES

Hi Guys,

I am selling my old MPH 319 number that I used on my Porsches from 1996 to 2009.
The plate is on a V778 retention certificate.

National Numbers in Billingham claim to have found a buyer and have send me paperwork requesting I send them the V778 and fill out a power of attorney form. They will send me the money me once the deal is finalised.

Is this normal as it sounds a big dodgy to me?

Stephen

I've never sold a plate before, only bought them, but it does sound dodgy. Even if it is right, it does seem a bit one sided. Do you get anything in writing to make sure you get your money?

Lee.

I have a signed form from the company who have already collected a deposit from the buying party. It does seem very one sided.

Regards,
Stephen

Hi Brett,

If I knew who wanted to buy the plate I would not need the 'middle man (the company)'.
I suspect the company has a quite a mark up on my plate price.
I'll ring the DVLA on Monday.

Stephen

Hi Steph,

It makes me wonder how much of that money you get after they've had their big slice.

I sold a couple of plates with Elite and the transaction was also done that way. Never had any problems money wise.
