Sorry Siggy never heard of an Alpha GTV  , but I believe Alfa Romeo did a GTV  Fantastic cars & the V6 has probably got to be the most classic engine ever. They need looking after especially rear suspension bushes & wishbones. Cambelts are around 60K on a V6 unlike the 4 pot which is a strict 36K. It is worth getting over to alfaowner.com & looking through there, although calling it an Alpha could get you banned double quick

Friend of mine works for an Alfa dealership and paid £1200 for the belts to be done on a V6 he owns. That was the discounted price for staff

My son-in-law has the 2.0 convertible in blue, its a really nice car, looks the part, goes well, sounds good, very comfortable leather seats, nice driving position, and amazingly loads of luggage space. I'd have one, and I'd definitely have the convertible over the coupe. In fact we looked at the GTV when it was new and decided it was too dark and cramped inside, however the convertible is a different story, probably because it's only a two seater. The cambelts and a service cost £700 to have done when he first got it. Any problems that he has had with it are down to the dishonesty of the vendor..... but my advice to him, and anybody actually, is don't buy a car from such and such a place that begins with L and is not too far to the west of here - but he did, and he's paid for the mistake too. Still, now everything's fixed on it it's a cracking car, not a sports car so much as a nice cruiser. By the way, a 3.0 litre V6 sounds a good idea when petrol is destined to hit £1.24 a litre in two weeks time...... |

Yes you can Ben. There was an article in 911 & Porsche World magazine http://www.911porscheworld.com/ about 8 - 10 years ago about a 924 or 944 that had used the spare wheel well to hold an LPG tank. I remember the car was red, the photos were shot in a petrol station, and the driver was bald, but that's it

But the owner wouldn't pay extra to get the tank fabricated to fit into the spare wheel well. As a result, he ended up with a massive tank taking up the whole boot space  . No room for luggage then!I'll leave mine standard and cycle to work. Could do with losing a few pounds anyway.  Probably doesn't do the 944 much good driving it such a short distance. Ben

The article I saw in 911 and PW about a 944 on LPG had the guy's tank installed where the spare wheel was. My dad is trying to talk me into getting the 944 converted, but tbh I'm sticking it out. |
