I have always scanned Autotrader , and bought a few cars in my time before getting in to Porsche. Up until now I have never seen so many adverts with obviously wrong prices or advertising cars that dont even exist ( wrong models for years etc).

If you're at a loose end have a look at 911's up to 20,000 and check out an 05 997 for less than 10,000 ( yep sold I'll take it mate) and another ' bargain ' for about 8,995 if I remember that wasnt made in the year in question. I like to think I'm not slow but I can't tell if these folk are just incapable of posting an ad or actually looking to swindle someone, maybe a collection of the above. Intriguing to look at when you're bored anyway

Cheers Mas

Hi Mas,

Like you I am amazed by the number of 'strange' cars on Autotrader. I am looking to change my A6, so on there all the time at the moment and I would say too high a proportion of the cars are a little odd.

Many of them are dealers trolling for cheap cars to be sold to them by advertising one for less than trade and then saying they will buy similar cars. At those prices of course they will! Saw a 2005 Cayenne on there yesterday for £9k.

I actually used to work for Autotrader many years ago, and in fact was one of the first sales people selling the Autotrader website to dealers and I am amazed they let people get away with it.

Difference between now and then though is anyone can place an advert without having to go through Autotrader staff.

Some are blatant cons in my opinion .... you know the ones ... 2008 911 Turbo, Quick sale wanted, £10k only but email this address only ... blah blah blah. No doubt you will have to send a deposit of £500 to some paypal account somewhere in Nigeria.

They need to tighten up for sure!

Regards
Paul
