My understanding is that for Porsche "left" and "right" are in relation to somebody sitting in the car looking towards the front, this means that left and right are the same on both lhd and rhd cars and there's no offside/nearside confusion (don't you love those logical Germans!). So, yes, for a right hand drive UK car the driver's side is Porsche's "right". |

+1, always defined from pov of driver sitting in car (whichever side!) facing forward. Many PET parts also carry supplementary code for whether RHD (/RL) or LHD (/LL) model. At back of PET (V-Pages) it also states that front, rear, left, right "applies to direction of travel". Logical people indeed! |

Hi Jim, Au contraire - 928 owners rely heavily on the wiring diagram! It's actually very well organised (far better than the workshop manual) and has rigid codes for grid references, wire colours and sizes, connectors, whether wires are part of same loom or not etc. It does take some getting used to though and is horribly complicated in some parts. The 928 one even includes a section giving the name, description and location (3D grid ref) of every connector and box in the car. It points out differences between left and right hand drive locations but admittedly leaves some locations as a discreet blank! Case in point recently was helping someone find the location in car of the window/sunroof controller. The wiring diagram had nothing at all to say on the matter but it turned out to be same location as US cars (under driver seat for them, passenger seat here). Is the 944 diagram very different in those respects? Must admit have never seen/looked at one. |
