Post subject:  Long Shot - Not Porsche related - Help with Jeep

Hi All,

Just went to get my 928 out of the garage for the MOT in the morning and needed to move my jeep.

Hadnt driven it for a week or so and it wouldnt start.

I tried jumping it and reluctantly it came to life. I gave it a bit of gas for a while, but as soon as I tool my foot off the accelerator it just died!

After a little while I manged to get it to idle on its own without my foot on the accelerator, but as soon as I reved it a bit it just died.

Dont know where to start and really fed up as was planning on getting the MOTd and fixed. Now looks like I need to spend the money on the jeep instead.

Its a 4.7 H.O Grand Cherokee 2003.

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Paul

If that battery is very flat then that may affect the management. Disconnect the battery & charge it up then refit it & try again. Are there any fault lights up?

As well as that check all the vacuum pipes/hoses

Thanks Guys .... I think its fixed (fingers crossed!)
I found out how to show fault codes went back to the Jeep and did the process, it showed no faults so I started it and it ran spot on!

Thank God for that ..... I was scared at what bills the 928 will throw up tomorrow without the Jeep and the Audi service light came on yesterday!

The only thing that is a bit of a mystery is why the battery was dead in the first place. Also I notice the battery level indicator is flicking a bit around 14 volts (only a couple of mm side to side) - not sure if this is normal. perhaps this happens as it recharges.

The battery is a mercedes one, so probably the original ... I might change that as a precaution.

Panic half over for now!

Paul
