I saw your post and thought why would you use a 924 and not a 944 ? , I have to confess that I never read up on the 924 at all because no offence to those who love it but I just dont like the look of it and never have.

Short of it is , I didnt realise what an impressive sneeky little performer that 924's was , you learn something every day.

Thanks for making nosey old me look ( and learn) ! :bounce:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1290161.htm Dont know anything about the car or the company that built it. But if it's been done right it may be of interest.

I have a 1986 924S sitting on my front lawn and it has been since I took it off the road in February, the MOT ran out in September but it has only covered @1000miles since the last one, red (faded pink).
@125K miles (63K on clock but new certified one fitted way back)
Four fairly new (2Kmiles) Dunlop tyres on 5 lug 924 turbo (cobweb style alloys)
All brake lines changed 3 years ago.
New rear discs Sept 2008 for MOT, Fronts replaced 3 years ago (10K miles)
Full Porsche service history up to 2003 when belts were done 20K miles ago
Oil and filter replaced Sept 2008
New Distributor cap rotor arm and Beru leads fitted 3 years ago (20K miles)
Stainless Powerflow exhaust from downpipe to rear 1.5 years ago
New battery 2 years ago
Sunroof inner and outer and hatch seals changed 2 years ago.
Interior in great condition but dash cracked
Electric sunroof, mirrors, remote hatch and power steering
OS front wing needs replacing (I have steel replacement in red to go on)
Surface rust in bottom edge of sills but sills sound.
I used it daily until I got my 944S2 then lent it to my MIL for a year she brought it back last Feb and it has been SORN since

I would like to see it go somewhere to be used rather than scrappage PM me if you are interested.

Hmm after something cheap - i'll trackprep it myself, rather than paying for someone else to do the work...

944s are a bit heavier, granted a bit more powerful, but are also more expensive...
