Interestingly,on the subject of Moss,Ive been reading in Octobers Motor Sport an interview with Nigel Roebuck(editor) in which Moss tells him that in the 1955 Mille Miglia, "we did the last 83 mile section in 30 minutes and 54 seconds-thats an average of 161.6mph" For the record,the fastest ever qualifying lap for a World Championship Grand Prix ,recorded byJuan Pablo Montoya s Williams-BMW at Monza in 2002 was161.4mph! Impressive or what? Moss is guest Editor of Motor Sport this month in honour of his 80th birthday,some good stories in there!

I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Moss a number of years ago at Donnington, he was looking for a suite where he was due to be in attendance for lunch.. being a cheeky sales rep at the time I said if you cant find it you are welcome to come to ours.. 10 mins later he knocked on the door, signed autographs for all my customers and kept them enthralled for almost an hour he was a true gent - needless to say My boss and guests were gobsmacked...

I ll bet that was really good!I ve never met him but he always comes across as the kind of bloke I could talk to for hours!!
