Can anyone help? I'm looking for some fancy number plates like what I've seen on other Porsches. You know the ones with things like the Porsche crest at the one end instead of the E.U. stars etc.

I want them to legal, so has anyone got any ideas as to were I can get some? (Midlands based).

Is it true that they have to have the manufactures name on them & BSAU145 written on 'em?

Thanks in advance, Kev.

In one word Kev no, the crest makes the plate illegal, you are only allowed a GB with the EU crest and the correct sized numbers, if you want the Porsche crest or any slogan written on the plate you have to hae "show plates" which technically are illegal. Stick to correct font and size on the numbers and even with say a Porsche crest and a TIPEC slogan across the botom you are normally OK but eagle eyed jobsworths to watch out for.

Umm, Okay. I suppose I could chance it and if I do get pulled by the cops for them, I would hope they would have sense to just give a warning to get them changed. I'd just have to put the originals back on then.

Has anyone got these sort of show plates fitted & have you had any trouble with the law or M.O.T. testers over them?
:dontknow:

No probs yet & on a pre-2001 car should go through an MOT as the font & spacing etc is legal.

I've got the Porsche crest plates on the 928 - never had any MOT or Police issues.

Got the plates made at Porscheshop

Still don't for show plates and thats another reson they are technically illegal as they make a mockery of the new plate printing rules. I would think its an age thing why we can still get mot's etc with these plates, can't remember when the rule over bsi stamped, authourised plates came into force but it was fairly recent. Any car built before then you could claim that they have been like it for years/when I got it excuse and it would be very hard to prove different

I have been pulled up with my plate. It was a bit of a ball ache – but I do run illegal type font and illegal spacing. I just got a warning

I carry a spare pair of correct plates – that go on for MOT and can be put on immediately if I get stopped again.

I would be surprised if you got an MOT failure or even pulled over for just a Porsche crest

Mine had the colour crest on the end when I got it. No borders or anything else. Had no problems so far. Font & spacing is correct. :)

Yeah, I'm not gonna mess around with the font or spacing. They should look pretty much like thegumeister's picture in this thread.

Thanks for everyones help, but if anyone else has any views on this I would still be interested,

Kev.

I run 3/4 sized plates on my elise and have never been stopped. I went out of my way and spoke to a policeman after they were fitted and his comment was along the lines of..."We're more focussed on non standard fonts and undersized lettering. As your 3/4 plate has standard lettering in size and shape, but the waste plastic cut off it is very very unlikely that we would pull you over" - 5 years down the line this seems to be true.

So I can't see there being any issue with a porsche logo set. There are enough scooby owners out there with the most stupid fonts for them to chase anyway!!!
