I bet ya Mam told you it'd make you deaf  Mine did!

I've just done it again with a decent pair of speakers & I just make it to 12kHz. That'll be to much loud music, model & full size race engines without ear hole protection then.
Sitting at the end of RAE Farnborough runway for the airshow practise one year a pair of BAC Lightnings took off near vertical on full reheat. The 4 of us were sat less than a 100yds from the end of the runway & we had ringing ears for a few hours afterwards. Is it any wonder I'm a bit mutt

12Khz on pretty poor laptop speakers, but my wife (3 years' younger) was still complaining when I clicked on 14.7Khz and i didn't dare risk her wrath any further! Will try on kids tomorrow.

Lightning is sooo last century :) I had a very similar experience at Farnborough one year with the Eurofighter (on the company naturally ;)). Trade days are best as you can actually get nearer the runway. My god that thing is ear-splittingly loud!

I got up to 19.9 on my Toshiba laptop with harman/kardon speakers but with my skype headphones I can only hear 8!!

BTW
The lightning has the same 50000 ft/min as a Eurofighter. Not bad for the last century.

The original Lightning was indeed a tremendous bit of kit for its day, but remember that it does have twice the number of engines..

Incidentally our friends across the pond cunningly ignored our lightning when naming the F-35 the Lightning-II (the first lightning being also of american origin)

I just happen to know a bit about the F-35 controls too

Twice the engines?
Eurofighter and Lightning both have two engines.
Are the septics going to use the Lightning-II to ambush Japanese admarals too?

On crappy laptop speakers 12 year old got to 19.9Khz, 9 year old one step higher.

My wife couldn't hear the 14Khz I got to and she's 3 years' younger so I'm feeling less decrepit now.
