I told my brother on Tuesday that it would be Schumacher or Coulthard. Nothing beats experience (ask my wife ![]() ![]() And think of the pressure that will put on Raikonnen - it might make him smile! |

I know in the James Hunt era they asked a retired Jackie Stewart to drive a couple of the current F1 cars. This was for a book or film. Apparently his times were quite an eye opener to the various teams..... |

I can see that Schmi will be a big draw for the crowds but it's just PR and they probably can't lure Alonso til next season. Shame the BMW have pulled out because the Sauber team was excellent in sportscar and quite capable in F1. BMW have just flashed their money and now scared because it shows they aren't very good at development. Pulling out is the easy answer ![]() |

I think experience was the right word Jim. Age is just the thing that causes one to do things like I did today..... I fancied some ice cream this afternoon, so I went into the kitchen, opened the cupboard door, opened the washing machine door, and of course there was no ice cream in it! I then cursed, and mumbling to myself went into the garage to the beer fridge where the ice cream is...... it's all downhill from here on in.... and I've only just passed the fifty mark! |

So long as Hamilton can make the first corner ![]() Jackie Stewart was the Hamilton of his day. But he didn't have the help. Amazing guy. With the slowest car on the grid. Too heavy with a high center of gravity & rubbish brakes. A supercharged BRM with an engine like an anchor. He won races. Shumi couldn't do that. They also had real race tracks then like Spa & the Nurburg ring. Unlike todays cart tracks. A garage with a fridge full of beer...... ![]() ![]() |

What supercharged BRM was that then? But I do agree he did know how to win races and not always with the best car but then Schumacher didnt always have the best car either did he? You re totally right about the tracks though, the old ones were certainly much more dangerous and consequently drivers thought twice about making silly moves in silly places as we see so often these days. It all reminds me of when I got my Scalextric and,fed up of spinning off on corners cos I was just going too fast at the wrong time and place ,I gradually built up the corners with bits of wood or piles of books until I could do a whole lap without lifting my thumb from the throttle.Result? BORING!! Ring any bells? ![]() |

I blame the FIA. They encouraged teams to explore the kers route and for most it has been unsuccessful but hellish expensive! Then in the next breath the FIA say weve got to have cost caps ,so stop spending all that money on ridiculous ideas!I think BMW have simply got fed up of the FIA manipulation and Bernies reluctance to allow them a bigger share of the income! ![]() |
