Don't think I've ever been in a car that's got so much attention.

Engine note is fantastic under heavy foot and turns everyone's head :D

Performance aside - which is stunning, when it settles down to "normal" driving the ride is comfortable and not too harsh. I reckon you could drive a long way and get out feeling fresh at the end of it

Do you think you'd rather have one than a 997 though?

watched an old top gear last night on dave, clarkson in R8 and hammond in a beetle, R8 just kept ahead on the track, but the 997 just had the edge in the drag race, so not much in it then

Wasn't the 997 a C2? So the 4wd R8 would have better grip around the track. They should have pit it up against a C4 for a more equal fight.

but isn't the c4 slightly slower than the c2 ?

In the drag race, yeah! But it's to do with how long it takes to get of the line, isn't it?

Yeah, the C2 would, the C4 would be slower because it wouldn't get off the line so quick. (same as the R8 didn't). But around the track, it would take the corners quicker, giving the C4 and R8 the edge over the C2. Does that make sense, as I'm starting to get confused now?

but the c2 wouldn't get the power down, probable wheelspin, whereas the c4 would just grip and go, the drag of the 4wd would only take effect as it speeds up, or am i even more confused than you ?

No, the C2 is rear wheel drive with a bloody great engine hanging outta the back and with all the power going to the rear wheels and the back end digging in would pull off the line quicker. The C4 would be trying to put the same amount of power to four wheels, but the front end would be lifting and there would be less power to the rear wheels. So it would not get the power to the floor as quick and it would accelerate slower.

Do you ever get the feeling that you wish you hadn't started a conversation?

Now you two have got all the technical stuff out of your system - and to answer the really important question - I'd rather have a 997T :D
