I was washing the Porsche on the road outside my house today when a D.V.L.A. van pulled up along side and the chap driving asked me if I was gonna put the Porsche back in the garage when I had finished washing it?

I asked why? & he said because the tax had expired in Oct. I was gob smacked. I asked him why I hadn't recieved a reminder from them? And he said it was only a complimentry reminder & if I didn't get the Porsche on my drive sharpish, he would clamp it.

I know I should have realised that it had ran out, but I always rely on the D.V.L.A. telling me. I'm just glad that the cops never pulled me over, as it would have been towed.

:tongue9:

At least the guy was sensible about it.

I don't think he would have been convinced by your story. "I was washing the windscreen of my beloved Porsche with a toothbrush for the second time that week when I failed to notice my tax had expired 4 months ago."

Umm, maybe not. And I don't wash my Porsche that often, do you? My Porka's dirty more than it is clean, as I drive it 'most every day & can't see the tax disc from inside.

I also have all my bills on direct debit and the missus reminds me about everything else.

Well lets hope they forget to send that out, the same as they did the reminder.

Yup reminders not 100% reliable, nearly got caught with the TR7 a year or so ago. I now have reminders in Outlook on both home & works PCs for Tax insurance & MOTs!
