Mike Brewer buys a 944T and turns it into a track car to sell - enjoy

Watched it last night and although I can't agree with turning what was basically a sound 944 into a trackday car, I have to admit it sold for a good price. Thought the dyno looked a little optermistic making 234 before the re-map and 266 afterwards unless this was adjusted to indicate flywheel not rear wheel power. Thought they would have changed suspension bushes and steering joints if spending £1K on Gaz suspension and to me the front disc he inspected and said was OK looked shot with what looked like a deep groove around it. Also why swop the cup 2 wheels for what looked like narrower design 90s for the track and then paint them orange (sorry Porsche orange). Overall I enjoyed the programme but would have preferred them to buy a tatty 944 and put it back to original like they did with the 924 in the last series.

I reckon that’s exactly why they did something different this time.

i reckon it needed an engine rebuild as it was a bit smokey on braking

The whole program was rubbish, I was laughing at what they were doing and why....

They skim over sooooo much stuff, I know the cars cost them way more than they let on.

Mind you, i do like a bit of comedy.

I finally caught the shows last night. Not a bad bit of telly entertainment, but there was an awful lot for those of us who know 944s to laugh about.

Was it just me, or were the sills absolutely buggered? The camera kept flying past them very quickly, but in a couple of tracking close up shots they looked very bubbled all the way along. Thought I saw rust at the back of the front wheel arch as well.

Hmm, sort of interesting... Can you get 30 more horsepowers without touching the boost? And no re-indexing on the rear? And what about 4 wheel alignment? Bushes, top end rebuild, etc, etc...

Still, it is good to see the 951 remains widely appreciated after all these years!

Anyone catch who the dealer was that he bought the Gaz setup off?

I quite enjoyed that, especially the 2nd part.
Nine X supplied the dampers - aren't they up north somewhere.
He made mincemeat of the suspension change - it took me hours! Oh for a 4 post and some air tools.
They did talk about geometry so we must assume that was done - I wouldn't want to track it otherwise. I suppose they do basic health checks too - emissions, compression etc.
Promax and the like do claim around those sorts of gains just from a rechip. They reckoned it cost 250 for the RR session and the chip so it must have been an off the shelf chip rather than a custom one but a valid option nonetheless.
He was driving a 58 plate korean thing so it must have been recent, that number plate does seem familiar and it was clearly ebay it came from.
If you add in the labour to fit the suspension and the cage then their profit disappears and then some but I suppose if you were doing it for yourself you could manage to break even and have some fun.
I'm not always that keen on Mike Brewer but the other chap seemed quite affable except the whoops of joy at turning it into a track car, I bet he felt a prat doing that 6 times for camera.
I feel I may have learnt a few basics I didn't know but the wings were definitely a bit iffy and the cills didn't get a good enough view to tell.
