Is anyone going to Bristol Classic Car show on May bank holiday 2nd - 4th at Shepton Mallett show ground? I'll be there with my 'Blue Rocket' on Saturday. Hope weather is better than last time :D

Andy

So went to show today, weather was lovely and the bring your own classic parking area was popular, too popular as we had to queue for nearly an hour to get into area for some health and safety regulation about timings :( organisation was pretty poor but once in it was a very good show. All the club stands were very enthusiastic and had some beautiful motors from pre war to fairly modern machines all beautifully presented. Didn't see many Porshes except for a couple of other 944s, a 911 3.2 and a 928S in the parking/display area. Show is on for tomorrow and Monday Bank holiday and I'm very tempted to go tomorrow to the Charterhouse auction at the event which has a lovely 1988 Merc 300 coupe, it was an immaculate, enthusiast owned car with all the options including electric headrests, dual climate control etc £1500 guide price. There's a low mileage Red 944S also with a £3000 guide price.

Yes that Datsun 240Z was absolutely stunning for a 30 odd year old car. Standing next to it you could really appreciate the Ferrari influenced lines that the Japanese copied so well. All the cars on display were immaculate. The Capri mk1 club next to the Datsun had a 1600GXL with 17k miles, it still had its original tyres on from the factory. Admittedly the owner said he never drives it anymore it comes by trailer to the shows so I cant see the point but it was a beautiful car. Had my father in law with me who worked for Fords on the capri in the 60's/70's and he was able to tell the owner some tech information on the electrics and then some passer by over heard the conversation and started asking questions on his restoration and he couldn't get away from the stand, we just left him there  came back some time later and he was still going. Needless to say the club wanted him to join right there.

Couple more pics
