Post subject:  peugeot 407 woes

after spending £560 on a 40k service a couple of months ago i have noticed the clutch slipping on the 407 occaisionally, popped into local main dealers for a quote, explained symptoms and was given a bulletin from a peugeot troubleshooting guide, symptom-on sharp accelaration in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th gear the engine speed increases but the vehicle does not accelerate immediately. origin-lack of calibration of the force sensor of the auto wear compensation system in the clutch mech. after sales repair- replace the clutch kit. ok is it under warranty i ask with 52k on the clock, no clutches only given 20k warranty is the answer, so how much i ask, out comes the calculator and the final figure £802, gulp, 7 hours labour at £69 an hour, the clutch is £198, but the dealership may come to an agreement with the labour costs, hmm!

I think only 52k on a clutch is poor - surely it should last longer than that?
