apparently only the digestives will go down in price as of mondays VAT change - not jaffa cakes as apparently they (cakes) are not a luxury item :?

Cakes and biscuits are zero-rated under VAT rules. However, CHOCOLATE covered biscuits become a "luxury" item and therefore attract VAT at the standard rate.

So, from Monday, neither digestives nor jaffa cakes will come down in price as digestives are biscuits and jaffa cakes are, under case law, classified as cakes

Chocolate digestives will be subject to a reduction in price.

Actually they should/could go up in price due to the additional 2 pence going on fuel...
Thus the delivery costs are more...

But hey I'm sure the Government will blame the retailers for not passing on the savings... :?
