Having bought the Cayenne & decided I need to upgrade my scanner. Bought this for £109 off of EBay. Seems to work pretty well.

Jim,
That's really interesting. I was looking at these recently so I'll be interested to see how you get on with it. Reviews I've seen elsewhere seem to be quite positive.
You know the issues I've currently got with the 996 and if one of these could help narrow down my fault it would be worth the investment, maybe not for now, but for the near future.

Stu, only played with it on the Cayenne for 10 minutes but you're welcome to come over & we can have a play on yours. It is a lot more detailed than the one I was using. You can also clear faults with this one.

Sorry for silly question but where do you get a list of fault codes to enable you to repair things ?

Not silly at all. On the cheapy one I tend to use it close enough to the house to get Wifi so just Google it. I normally Google with the Make & model in so I get a full description.
This new one has a look up facility on it so gives a description as well as the code. You still need to Google to get a better description.

My old one I Pex'd against the MX5. Probably heresy but the I enjoy the MX5 more than I did the Boxster. The MX5 is great fun at sensible speeds. Big downside is the lack of boot space, the Boxster was better in this respect.

Hi Jim,

That would be good. I'll leave it until after this fault has been resolved, but am definitely interested for the future. I think being so far from the OPC and the nearest Indy, having the ability to diagnose is a must.

See you soon

Stuart
