I have just purchased a small pile of audio equipment, amongst which is a Sony SA-WMS7 subwoofer.

Pictures as per
http://www.audiophilemania.com/forum/sh ... php?p=6670

What are the speaker posts for? And the line passthrough? Multiple subs?

Tried it all setup, and the sub just doesn't go along with my audio tastes, so if anyone in the Aylesbury area wants to make me an offer.. :D

its a satellite system.

basically, take your normal stereo amp, wire it to the in's...

the outs then get wired to the small satellite speakers, or your existing speakers.

the sub does the lows, and sends the rest on to the "satellites".

Just struck me as a little odd to have the RCA line connectors and the speaker posts in + out.

The sub's an active one so can take a subwoofer line out signal from a 5.1 amp or some tv set's etc into the line in socket. Never used the Line out socket personally but from what I remember it goes to another amp or active sub, depending on your system setup. You will get much better bass response from this connection then the filtered way though the speaker connection's which is acting like the passive subs do on cheaper 5.1 systems. Your bass level settings can also be used when connecting through the line input to tune the sound to how you like. Use a decent dedicated subwoofer interconnect aswell, not the flimsy cheap RCA lead Sony used to supply with kit to "get you started"
