Just home from a week long install job, 7 days, £16k install.

6 Zones Audio and Video, HD is an option that he is thinking about.
160Gb Music Server, 2 Sky Boxes, DVD all distributed and controlled from the keypads.

Easily the nicest place I have worked on, central open air courtyard with underfloor heating, glass walk way around it, barn and combined cottage with extension. Fabulous.

Keypads integrate with music server and ipod in wall dock, so you can select music from any room

Looks like you've done a good job of installing that lot.
I used to work for B&W loudspeakers when they had an aborted attempt at multi-room integration. Took a while until the systems were good enough to work by which time they gave it up as a loss.

I see Systemline is is still a regular brand in the field!

Indeed it is, systemline is still going strong. This is the more "basic" S6 system, we were brought in late and had to make do with the electricians cabling, else we'd have gone full cat5 and gone for the Systemline Modular system...

This was only a small install, 5 zones. The last one i did was 13 zones, and used 3km of cable!

Well electricians do seem to think they know everything about cabling don't they. I bet they fitted that cheap £10 quid SLX distribution amp thinking that'll do. Customer will be happy when his picture's disappear in 18 month's because the amp cooked itself. Do the customer a favour and fit a decent Antiference Pro series or similar to save him the hassle and he'll be eternally greatfull.

Good install. I've only dabbled with Global AVi LYnX server's so far none of that fancy touch panels, very flash, but I'm mainly everyday domestic digital install's, all the outside bits which ain't fun in this weather at moment :( but when we get a summer again :D :D

we fitted the slx amp, it was his old one that was temporarily fitted ;) but its only for a few weeks... we have cat5 to all the tv points, so we'll be fitting kramer HD distribution, again all controlled by the systemline gear via the RS232... so he can have Sky HD to all his TV points...

He wanted the music system in first so that he could facilitate his xmas parties :D

COOOOL must be really interesting and satisfying to do a job like that and see the end results :thumbright: How do you get this type of work, specialist advertising? I've got the gear and training but not sure where to advertise to the right clientel. My local newspaper ads are obviously not right.

The Digital Switchover is keeping me busy at moment but it will end one day and the more 'strings to your bow' is always useful. I've branched into cctv and Tv equipment sales/installation and incorporating this into home distribution system's through Loftbox units etc. Amazing how many people don't know they can watch Sky channels in other rooms for very little effort and outlay. Or even worse have HD TV's and DvD equipment but still link up with scart leads bought from Pound shop etc  Easy sale for a HDMI lead and the look of "No one told me" is classic.
Gotta fund the Porsche resto somehow.

Keep up the good work :thumbright:

Interesting to see this - I work for Bang & Olufsen and regularly install large multi room systems like this!

Slightly different to ours, possibly more advanced although definately not as stylish! We don't use cat5 yet.
