After coming across a Petition on here from many years ago and as it has expired I thought I would start a new one to return the 25 year classic car tax exemption but on doing so came across one that is already running and ends this JULY with 20,000 people already signed it and though I would Post it here for all to sign. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/119497 Many thanks David. |

As nice as it would be it will never happen. The government aren't going to let that much money go. Not to sound negative but 25 years ago was 1991 j reg, not what I'd call a classic car age. There are 1000s of 25 year old cars fit for daily drive usage. The petition would have more chance of getting any notice at 35 years. |

I think once they've sorted out getting the money from the diesel owners then classics could be next. As a modern owner my car pollutes a lot less than classic cars, which I'm sure you'll agree you can smell half a mile away!! I do get that's part of their appeal though to some. I also probably do less miles than a polluting classic too ! As mentioned above I think the classic car exemption was good with its intentions but many people have purposely bought older 'classic' cars to avoid tax but still use it as a daily driver. As said I think it's been noted and in time things will change so they can make their money. I also guess the appreciating values of classics this doesnt help the poor old retired gentlemen drivers with their argument of the cost of keeping them on the road. ![]() |
