Playing around in this while the Pan is in being serviced.

Taking the B roads all the way back to Bournemouth tomorrow at the yawn of the sparrow!

I hated it by lunchtime having driven into central London but it's fantastic on the very wet B roads home from work.

£90k though, quite a spend for the base carrera but to be honest it's more than quick enough, bloody noisy with sports exhaust on (good thing) and 7 speed manual I think is nice despite being slated by the press, as is the electric steering. Lots of bull gets spoken at times in my opinion.

Overall, great for the day/weekend but I'll be happy to have mine back, horses for courses!

Lucky you. I got a BMW 520D as my courtesy car from OPC Tewkesbury. That said, their level of service was excellent. Maybe I'll make more noise about getting something "in brand" as they put it.

Kerry drove the car last night and said she didn't see the point of gears 4-7 as it does well over 100 in 3rd [when she popped over to the airfield]. Pleased to report I have found a use for 4, 5 & 6 over Salisbury Plain early this morning but 7 is still a mystery

Great car, really came alive on early morning country blast, however, 991 has definitely lost the 911 weighty rear end feel which is obviously a dynamic improvement in real terms but for me that means it's lost a bit of the character which defines 911, minor criticism of a great road car though.

I have the same issue with the Boxster & that is only 5 speed, third takes you from 20 or so MPH to 100+

The 7 speed manual is not great and I prefer the 6 speed manual on the Cayman GTS which is amazing.

This recent courtesy car, a 991 GTS with PDK and sports exhaust, was very impressive and I liked the power and handling very much. A lot has been written about PDK and nostalgia for the manual gearboxes. The reality is that most cars sold now are PDK which is better suited to all types of todays roads.
