![]() I sold a set of wheels and tyres on ebay this week. Chap said he'd pick them up today between 5 and 6pm, coming from Bristol. Turns up at my house, is offhand with my wife who answered the door to him. I was two minutes away at our other place mowing the grass, so I rushed back round to my house to see the chap and get the wheels out of the shed. Now, I had described the wheels and tyres fairly, pointing out the condition of the rims as second hand to me and far from perfect, but that they and the tyres I had fitted had done under 1200 miles on my 993 while I was having the original rims from my car refurbished. He said he owned a 965 (964 Turbo?) and was planning to do much the same - put these on his car then get his original wheels refurbished. He didn't smile throughout. He inspected the tyres closely. Then he says "there's no way these have 8mm of tread left on them" (refering to the rears). At no point had I claimed anything about how much tread was left, which I reminded him, but he said they had probably done more like 20,000 miles rather than 1200! 20,000 miles on the back of a 911???!!! He said this was achievable "if you drive it carefully". Whats the bloody point in allegedly owning a 911 Turbo and then driving it carefully!!! Please someone put me right but I've never heard of anyone ever getting 20K miles from a set of rears on a 911! He then says " They're not for me" and starts walking off to get in his ancient moss green Daihatsu micro car. So I reminded him that ebay doesn't work like that - you bid, you buy - and he says I can give him negative feedback. Too bloody right I will! And I'm sending him a paypal invoice for the listing and sale charges I got from ebay. I'm not expecting a result on that but I feel the need to make the point. This was about an hour ago and I'm still absolutely spitting with rage. Am I being unreasonable? And if anyone knows a very small man (about 5'4", wet fish handshake, over compensatory aggressive demeanor, drives a green Daihatsu micro car (right scale of car for the man and his mind)) from Bristol who also drives - carefully - a 965 and doesn't understand how an auction works, give him my best regards and tell him he's a class "A", timewasting, deal welching, pussy driving PR@T ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

“Item relisted due to frustrating, timewasting, downright rude idiot by the username of XXXXX who won the previous auction and refused to pay.” There’s more than one way to give feedback … |

I've only had one deal go sour on Ebay but some of the people you end up dealing with can be a real pain in the a**e. Good luck with the relisting ![]() |

Been relatively luck actually, had one waster when I sold the Lancia who paid but didn't collect! Just did a second chance on the next guy in the list & he collected OK. |

craig, make sure you report him as a non payer, you'll need to check but i think that way the transaction is cancelled and he can't leave you negative feedback! otherwise you might have some more spitting with rage to do. |

Make sure you 'report an unpaid item' and open a dispute with ebay. That way he can't leave you negative feedback, unless he already has, in which case it may get retracted if you prove he is a D***head. |

Let not thy wrath blind thine eyes to loving and correcting your neighbour through the usual channels for breach of contract. If the sinner doth not repent and pay your damages you requested, then send him a letter in love pointing out his trangressions, and offering to accept his repentance within the days of the moon, after which you will be appealing to the local small claims court of Herod, for which they will whip more money from him than your humble petition to him doth require. It is in love that we give - to correct the sinner gives more joy in heaven than to pass him by on the other side. |

Thanks chaps for your good advice and support. I've calmed down a bit now, especially as I put the kit up for a buy it now last night and a chap has indeed bought them! Hopefully things will go more smoothly this time.... BRETT - Actually I do have some 18 inch tyres off another set of wheels that I could let you have - the rears are utter toast but the fronts might be of use with a few mill of tread left on them. I guess that's probably the wrong way round for you, but the offer's there. They are P Zero 285/30 ZR18 N4 and 225/40 ZR18 N4. REV ROLAND - Thanks for showing me the light. However, the Lord also teaches us to turn the other cheek. I think I might have to follow this path as otherwise I may be riled into committing various sins in the pursuance of revenge... |
