My teenage daughter has allowed the battery terminals on her car to become heavily encrusted with the sort of corrosive build up that can form on terminals. What is the household product that will easily remove this and deter future encrusting ? Is it baking powder, bicarbonate of soda or whatever ?

Thank you.

I'd just use some scotchbrite, then put grease on terminals .

Use boiling water, then once clean use white grease or vaseline to keep them clean.

Take the cables off (make sure you have radio codes etc) then wire brush everything off, put some petroleum jelly on terminals/cable & reconnect. I have got a terminal cleaning tool that does terminals or posts & would only been around a fiver if I hadn't borrowed it from work on a long term basis :-D (link below for tool example).
