Heard on the radio today that some early episodes of SESAME STREET are being reclassified as not suitable for children and will be marked as adult only viewing 
Apparently its because the Cookie Monster is shown eating large amounts of cookies and its a bad influence on kids

Bosses say the Cookie Monster scoffing biscuits and smoking and Oscar the Grouch being surly "modelled wrong behaviour". A newly reissued DVD warns on the cover it is "intended for grown-ups... and may not suit today's pre-school child". Producer Carol-Lynn Parente added: "We might not be able to create a character like Oscar now." |
