The weather seemed decent so I opted to nip over to the island for a jaunt / lunch etc. - wow, think it could win a 'UK's Worst Roads Ever' competition - quite unbelievable how bad they were. I had to steer around ridges, holes, cracks, crevices, manholes etc. constantly - it rarely let up and was most unpleasant. Anyone thinking, like I did, that it might be a nice drive out - think again, it's appalling. I saw one 911 - don't envy him if he lives out there.

I am surprised they let you in

The motorway into Belgium was the worst road I have ever driven on and that includes some mud tracks in Antigua.

I know a great section of road in Devon where a spring rises in the middle of the road.

When frozen in winter stays an ice rink for weeks which is difficult because there is a crossroads halfway down.

I think I know that road- they really do specialise in crap motorway surfaces in Belgium..
I see they keep blaming France because the French are tolls, so people use the Belgium roads instead.

There was talk of putting tolls on the Belgium motorways :? If they did then I'm struggling of another reason to visit the country :blackeye:

For me too, that was one of the worst I've experienced in years of European touring.

Suspect that that was the road that gave me brake judder after passing over it (now fixed by skimming the discs seemingly)

Juddering sphincter I'd suggest at the thought of the days ahead.
