I think if it had failed within 2 years you would not have a problem, but 4 years is pushing it a bit on what Porsche will regard as a replaceable item.
Ideally, oil seals should be changed every 8 years, by that point they start going hard, and although yours is only 4 years old, on the one hand it should be ok, but then again, with extended oil change intervals these days, a car which could have seen some over revs logged by the DME (porsche will say the logged ones pushed the seal beyond its design tolerance), there is a good chance the main dealer who fitted it is off the hook.
If you are having the RMS replaced, also have the IMS bearing and seal plate replaced with one of the uprated ones, and if it has an internal seal, remove it, it is a lot cheaper to have this done while the RMS is replaced, rather than at a later date.. and if it fails, it can make a big mess of the engine.
