some of you are aware i'm doing a rear manifold on a gto this week, yesterday i really couldnt be bothered so i got stuck in this morning... this car has been supposedly looked after by a specialist with a custom down pipe and exhaust.... if he is a specialist i wouldn't take any of my cars to him if i lost the ability and he was the last man left to do them. he charges a phenomenal rate but isn't worth a penny in my eyes. every nut&bolt is after market wanged into the wrong thread, mitsu use metric fine. these look like metric course. and the threads that match are wanged on crossed. the only thing not crossed are the jubilee clips. be carefull guys and girls about where you take your cars, some so called specialists may operate this way. but i would think that pork specialists are better trained and use more care. |

i need to make a decision do i continue or simply reassemble what i got off and hand it back? i think the latter would be more appropriate. i have got down as far as the turbo which by the looks of things hasn't long been on. and trying to undo one of the down pipe nuts i instantly feel the stud twist. so i think my best choice is to leave this well alone and let the guy that cocked it up in the first place work with hes mistakes and do a job he should have done in the first place. |

tbh paul i dont think he could cock it up any more than it already is. the guy who originally done it might try to say i have messed it up and looking for an excuse to get more money. i wouldn't put it past him because thats how most of these gto specialists work its simply to cover their own back and try to keep their own reputation. but anyway to cover myself i have video'd the engine the area commenting on whats what and why i'm not continuing further. this is simply if he wants to be ugly over the fact i wont work on a car he works on. :S its bad when it comes to this it really is. but my pride would take this further to the point of engine removal to heat up every single nut to remove the down pipe and the turbo just to change the manifold. when i stripped my car all bolts except 2 came off without a problem and the turbo's have been replaced long ago. so this says something and thats IF the turbo's have indeed been changed? which i'm having doubts about, if not they are original 17 y/o turbo's with 17 years of corroded studs/bolts and everything els. yet they all undone. |

the thought of a car getting the better of me made me more determined! the new manifold is now on after a few days wrestling but a simple bolt everything back up is all thats required ![]() all that fuss over ...... put it this way... if it was my car there wouldn't be a straight panel on it! |
