This could sound arrogant, but it's a very light hearted rant. I just wondered what everyone's opinion is: I'm one of those grammar pedants that really enjoys spelling and grammar, as I feel I explain myself better and it helps convey a professional attitude for my business. I also like pronouncing words as the originator intended i.e. Glasgow as in "has" not "glarz" despite being a Southerner. Most of us probably know that Porsche should be pronounced "por-sha", but it seems I'm in danger of sounding pretentious and anal trying to say it that way. Many people don't even know what I'm talking about unless I say "porsh". I might have to just give in and join in with all the uneducated commoners (just joking). How do you say it? |

I asked in the museum and I quote "Always Porsch e, only the stupid French or the posh English say Porsche". ![]() Southern Germans say Porsche, Shrewsbury Shrowsbury. |

With you on this Alex - though whilst I want to say 'porsha', 'porsh' always come out o' my face - just cos(!) everyone else does here I guess. Should we try correcting everybody else? Hmmmmmm |

As Sean says it's pronounced Porsh-uh It's their family name, and that's how it's spoken. I hear people say "Pawsh" a lot, but never hear same folk refer to a "Ferrar Din" They probably don't say "Luftwaff" either |
