Post subject: | Accident advice |
I am after a bit of advice here, I picked up my brand new company car on wednesday, and one thursday I was returning to it (parked on street) when I saw a 7.5 ton lorry clip the front of it, there was another guy guiding him into the parking space, and whilst I was waiting to cross the road he rubbed my damaged front bumper and carried on to drop the tailgate. I walked over to my car looked at the damage (2 scores and a hole) and then walked up to the driver and said you've made a mess of the front of my car, initially he denied it but I showed him my paint on his loory and said I saw his mate rub his hand on my bumper, he didn't admit he hit my car but gave my his address, home and mobile numbers, I rang both, no answer on the mobile but got through to his wife on the landline, she said he was out. He rang me back and said he would text me his insurance details, I'm still waiting !! I have rung his mobile 3 times and it just rings out, and his wife just says he's not in, what do do ? |

Lot of tw**ts out there ![]() You say its a company car, so presumably the NCD is not an issue. If it were me I would contact my insurance company with his registration no. They can chase him down through that..or..was there a company name on the vehicle? Chase him through his employer if its possible. |

Firstly report it to the police, secondly pass everything you have to the co. insurance. They'll deal with it from there. |

did you take photos at the time? record the reg number. I would ring him again and tell him that if you have not heard from him in the next 24 hours that you will need to report the damage to the police. |

your insurance company will be able to find his details I've had two incidents of others hitting me in the last year and each time just passed on their phone number and reg no to my company. they did the rest |

As above, go to the police and insurance co. A few years ago one of our guys reversed into a gate post, straightened it up and left in our company van. On the word of the property owner (who must have been watching from his house) with our vehicle's reg no our man got prosecuted for leaving the scene of an accident and was on a charge of dangerous driving for a while until it was dropped. |

Bud...my heart sank when i read the thread 'Accident advice' I'm just pleased to read it wasn't the 911...but then if it was you would probably still be in counseling and maybe not even able to write... Good luck with the claim. I'm with the above. Police and insurance company Take it easy |

Update, after ringing his home several times and being fobbed off by his wife, and leaving 9 voicemails and 14 missed calls I left a voicemail threatening to involve the Police, 30 mins later his insurance details arrived by text today, so the claim will go in tomorrow |
